Abstract This lesson will initiate students into the art of grassroots organizing, as well as the power and effectiveness of the strike and boycott. Two historic figures, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, point the way to a better life for agricultural workers. Applying their skills in persuasion, non-violent protest, and negotiation, these two charismatic leaders changed the economic, political and social landscape for a group long ignored: migrant farm workers.
