Abstract The United States Supreme Court case of Hernandez v. Texas, decided on May 3, 1954, a mere 2 weeks before the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, helped pave the way for minority rights under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. This case is of major importance due to the decision that affirmed that persons of Latin American origin or descent were “A Class Apart” in Texas during the 1950s.
