Abstract During this lesson, students examine the founding of Jamestown, Virginia. The purpose of this lesson is for students to understand the motives of English Colonization in America, the problems faced in Jamestown along with the solutions. Students make connections between the distribution of population and the emphasis of different ethnic groups on the success of Jamestown. While analyzing the solutions and/or effects attributed to the different Jamestown events and groups, students will come to understand why Jamestown is important to study today.
